Mission of HC4FD
Our mission is to provide the community and its visitors with excellence by providing the highest quality of risk reduction, fire suppression, rescue, emergency medical care, and all-hazards response services to enhance the quality of life in Rockingham County safely, efficiently, and quickly while preserving life and property.
HC4FD has been serving the citizens of Harrisonburg and Rockingham County since 1890. We currently operate out of
one fire station: Station 41 on Port Republic Road near Sentara. Each Fire Station is assigned to specific regions to cover for Rockingham County.
Our first due consists of 140 square miles including Keezletown, Belmont, Lakewood, Shen Lake, Massanetta Springs, Linville, Lacy Springs, Cross Keys, and 12 miles of Interstate 81. We also respond mutual aid into the City of Harrisonburg, Bridgewater, Broadway, Clover Hill, Grottoes, McGaheysville, and Singers Glen. We respond to approximately 2,300 emergency incidents annually, that number also increasing.
